Transport of electron bunches in a magnetized plasma

Description

The effect of an external magnetic field on transport conditions for a modulated beam in a plasma, which manifests itself in variation of plasma waveguide properties and action of the Lorentz force on electron bunches, is studied. The numerical study has shown that in a finite transverse magnetic field there are no physically correct stationary solutions, for which the bunch density approaches the maximum on the beam axis and monotonously decreases at the periphery. At the transverse magnetic field component B→0 there exist solutions, asymptotically close to those determined in the absence of a magnetic field. The analysis of these solutions provides to find the bounds for the transverse field component value, at which the effect of modulated electron beam self-focusing in the plasma is reserved
