Hydroelectric dam on the Rhone river (RHoNERGIA)

Description

The RHoNERGIA Project concerns the creation of a run-of-river dam with the creation of a power generation plant in the Upper Rhone sector of the CNR concession, between Sault-Brenaz and the east of the Lyon conurbation, upstream of the confluence of the Rhone and Ain rivers (maximum gross capacity of around 40 megawatts (MW) and average production of 100% renewable energy estimated at 140 GWh). It includes: the resurfacing of the river bed, upstream and downstream of the dam, over a distance of some 26 kilometers, to create a low waterfall and a reservoir with a volume of around 20 million cubic meters; the creation of a new power line by RTE to evacuate the electricity generated by this new development: a 63,000 volt underground link some 4.5 kilometers long. The preliminary consultation on the Rhonergia project was held from December 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024 (maximum legal duration) under the aegis of four guarantors appointed by the National public debate commission. This voluminous document comprises the full documentation of the preliminary consultation file with its appendices, the summary reports of consultation meetings, the Player's booklets and collective contributions, the project manager's file with its appendices and summary, and the final publication of the preliminary consultation report
