Endocrine function of the pancreas in radiation therapy of stemach cancer
- 1. Akademiya Meditsinskikh Nauk SSSR, Obninsk. Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Meditsinskoj Radiologii
Description
In 59 patients with cancer of the stomach preoperative concentrated irradiation in a dose of 1800-2O00 rad caused the change in the insulin content in the blood plasma, the character of deviation from the initial level being dependent upon the degree of the insular apparatus before treatment. The analysis of glycemic curves after the double Shtaub-Traugotte loading by glucose testifies to the decrease of the reserve possibilities of the insular apparatus of the pancreas after therapeutic doses of radiation under the conditions of an increased need of the body in insulin
