Ceruletid (Takus) in the pharmacoradiology of the small intestine

The standardised x-ray examination of the small intestine after intramuscular or intravenous injection of Ceruletid (Takus) was carried out on 165 patients. Takus was injected in the following dosage: group A: 500-700 ng/kg bw i.m. group B: 20 ng/kg bw i.v.; group C: 40 ng/kg bw i.v. The control group consisted of 115 patients. Following small intestine passing times were found: group A: 62 +- 41 min, Group B: 65 +- 50 min; group C: 69 +- 56 min. The control group I showed an average small intestine passing time of 126 +- 62 min and the control group II 137 +- 79 min. After injecting Takus, a regular inner relief presentation in the small intestine was found in 75% of the cases. Slightly increased partial contractions were observed in 21% and strong partial contractions in 4% of the cases. The 'Ceruletid-supported' standardised X-ray examination of the small intestine has following advantages: 1. The examination time is shortened by its half; 2. the presentation of the jejunum and the ileum is generally achieved at the same time. (orig./MG)
