Measurement of two- and three- quantum annihilation in polycrystalline γ-Al2O3 and γ-Al2O3/Pt
Description
Positron annihilation mechanism in γ-Al2O3 under the effect of platinum, adsorbed upon γ-Al2O3 grain surface is studied. Simultaneously measurements of two- and three- quantum annihilation are made. It is shown that platinum atoms, adsorbed upon the surface, can decrease the possibility of positronium formation by means of localization of admixture levels in the forbidden zone of aluminium oxide which is possible if platinum is considered as chemical admixture
