Radiosterilization

Description

The aim of radiosterilization if the inactivation of viable microorganisms for which the criterion is the irreversible loss of reproduction capacity. A number of microbiologicl testing techniques have been suggested to control the efficiency of radiosterilization. The main reactions are summed up assumed to take place in organic polymers during irradiation. The basic demands are given on packing materials and on microbiological tests required to control the permeability of films to microorganisms and the ability of the packing to preserve the sterility of the product. The technological equipment is described of the irradiation plant for radiosterilization in Veverska Bityska. (J.C.)
