Metal abundances for G and K giants and subgiants at the South Galactic Pole
Description
Fe/H], Mv and E(B-V) are determined for 72 G and K stars at the South Galactic Pole for which UBViyz photometry has been obtained. Away from the galactic plane the population is dominated by old, low luminosity sub-giants. A strong gradient of [Fe/H] with distance from the galactic plane is detected. (author)
