Composition and some properties of uranyl chloride complexes with hexamethylenetetramine

Description

A study was made on interaction of uranyl chloride trihydrate with polyfunctional organic nitrogen-containing base - hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) in anhydrous media (ethanol, acetone) at different ratios of amine. Complexes of the following compositions were prepared: UO2Cl2 · HMTA · 2H2O, UO2Cl2 · HMTA · H2O and UO2Cl2 · (HMTA)2 · H2O. Their spectral and thermal properties were investigated. It is shown that water and NMTA molecules coordinate directly to UO22+. Ligands participate in formation of rather stable hydrogen bonds which are probably responsible for processes of uranyl chloride hydrolysis, decrese of temperatures of decomposition of uranyl salts and HMTA
