Safety is more important than megawatt hours of produced electricity. So said at the traditional Safety Day of MO3 and 4 the general director of Slovenske elektrarne and the project director of the MO3 and 4 units construction, Nicola Cotugno, according to whom 2015 was not a good year at all considering safety. The company had 12 injuries, whereof four were severe and one fatal. This message touches all of us. We must react, he said. Every one of us is responsible for safety; that was the main message: emphasis is on safety culture improvement, improvement of contractor management, information sharing, and dissemination of good practices. There will be new training and current ones will be revised. In the ENEL Group, Slovakia is somewhere in the middle of countries concerning the injury frequency rate, as shown in the presentation by Luciano Chiti, safety manager in the Global Generation division. The highest adverse score belongs to Chile with 2.3, while Brazil or Columbia are doing the best (with no injuries). Slovakia's index is 0.65. Most of the 12 injuries occurred at Mochovce. Slovakia, however, has an important place in the ENEL Group with the number of man-hours worked: in Slovakia there have been almost 22 million man-hours worked, in Columbia more than 15 million, in Italy more than 13 million, in Russia a little over 9 million, and Brazil only exceeded 600 thousand man-hours.
