The possibilities to simulate radiation damage caused by fusion neutrons

Description
The lack of prototypic test environment poses a unique challenge to the development of fusion materials. This is particularly the case for the investigation of radiation damage phenomena caused by the high energy fusion neutrons in the bulk of first wall and blanket structural materials of future fusion reactors. Since even the next generation of large fusion devices such as NET or FED cannot be regarded as true materials test facilities, fusion materials research must rely on simulation sources for at least the next 15-25 years.
