Description
Experimental measurements of the behaviour in torsion of a U-1.5% Mo alloy have been applied to forging tests at various temperatures. Deformation in the (β + γ) range requires less energy than deformation at 6200C at which temperature the alloy is in the (α + γ) condition; moreover, deformation in the (β + γ) range produces a structure consisting of a dispersion of (α + γ) modules in an α matrix, a structure which is very strong and ductile. The plasticity can be raised up to a fracture elongation close to 30% by means of extended anneals at 5500C. (Auth.)
