Hydrogen isotope effects for nitramide, a nitrogen acid
Description
Studies of the rates of decomposition of nitramide (NO2NH2) and deuteriated nitramide in H2O and D2O, containing a series of phenolate bases, show that the overall isotope effect for this nitrogen acid passes through a maximum in the region Δ pK = ca. O, behaviour which is similar to that observed for carbon acids; for catalysis by the nitramide anion the magnitude of the isotope effect is lower than expected. (author)
