Nitrogen enrichment due to meridional circulation in main sequence stars

  • 1. Yale Univ., New Haven, Conn. (USA). Observatory

Description

Paczyński has presented arguments in support of the idea that rotating main-sequence stars in the mass range |$2-10\enspace M_\odot$| should show evidence for carbon depletion and nitrogen enrichment in their envelopes. An attempt to test this theory in terms of the relative CN-strength of K-giant stars tends to support Paczyński's suggestion.
