Description
In this paper the residual nucleon-nucleon interaction is investigated by analyzing the electromagnetic transitions to some magnetic states of 48Ca in the RPA framework. In particular the strength of the tensor part of the interaction is studied by comparing the calculated results with the available experimental information. It is found that the tensor force, as given by the (π + ρ)-exchange model, must be reduced by a factor between 30 and 60%. This result, when compared with the ∼ 60% reduction factor found for 208Pb, shows a certain dependence on the nucleus
