Reactor shutdown device

Description

Purpose : To automatically and rapidly shutdown FBR type reactors upon occurrence of reactor abnormality. Constitution : A control rod guide tube planted and disposed in the reactor core comprises a doubled structure divided into an outer guide pipe and an inner guide pipe, and heat generation pins charged with nuclear substance sealing are mounted at the gap between the doubled structure. A handling head for a control rod of a coaxial doubled structure is formed to a latch mechanism for connecting the control rod drives and the control rod, and a ball latch mechanism is provided which protrudes to the inner surface of the handling head by the lateral movement of the two cylinders in the doubled structure in the axial direction. Then, by fitting the latch finger on the side of the driving mechanisms and the ball latch mechanisms to each other, the driving mechanisms and the control rod are combined to each other. (Seki, T.)
