Magnetization of the rare-earth sublattice in intermetallic compounds of the type R(Co/sub 1-x/Ni/sub x/)5

Description

TbCo4Ni and HoCo3Ni2 intermetallic compounds are investigated by neutron diffraction in the temperature range 4.2 to 800 K. The temperature dependences of relative magnetizations of Ho, Tb and Co sublattices are determined. It is considered that in the R(Co/sub 1-x/Ni/sub x/)5 compounds when substituting Co by Ni the energy of the exchange bond between R ion and Co remains constant. The second-order microscopic anisotropy constant per R ion also does not change appreciably
