What's new in design requirements in the 1986 edition and 1986 addenda of Section III, Div. 1, of the ASME boiler and pressure vessel code?

This paper will inform the reader of new additions and changes to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Division 1, Nuclear Power Plant Components. A new edition and one new addenda have been issued. They are: the 1986 Edition and the 1986 Addenda. Only those subsections which deal with nuclear pressure vessel components will be discussed. They include Subsections: NCA-General Requirements; NB-Class 1 Components; NC-Class 2 Components; ND-Class 3 Components; NE-Class MC Components; and the Appendices. Significant changes and additions will be discussed, including the background, and reasons for the additions and changes will be addressed. (author)
