Information exchange on agricultural problems relative to a radiological emergency situation

To optimize the population protection against radiation in case of radiological emergency it is essential that the public be informed and different experts exchange information. At the same time an efficient communication must be establish between specialists in order to find and use the best intervention methods. Any sector intervening in certain link of the food chain which extends from land to the table must be implicated, ideally to participate in the intervention process. The information transmitted to the public must be true, pertinent, coherent and comprehensible. Although, even if it is frequent in the initial and severe phases the quantity should not replace the quality of the broadcasted messages. The paper presents schemes of the radionuclide transfer in humans by ingestion from atmospheric fallout, the types of information sources which are feeding the individuals, the exchange of information between radiation protection authority and different sectors of agro-industrial field, and the problem of training, informing and instructing the population in case of nuclear emergency
