Elastic instabilities in the vortex state of 2H-NbSe2

Description

We present experimental evidence for instabilities in the vortex lattice leading to a crossover from weak collective to strong pinning, in single crystals of the conventional type II superconductor 2H-NbSe2, prior to the peak effect. We also find an anomalous history dependent magnetization response associated with this crossover. (author)
