Dosimetry of intense particle beams using the thermomechanical behaviour of an irradiated aluminium alloy
Description
An hydrodynamic code coupled with a ''puff-type'' equation of state has been set up to investigate the thermomechanical behaviour of an aluminium alloy irradiated by a 1 MeV electron beam. The absorbed flux can reach 3500 J/cm2 with an exponential damping along 1 mm depth. A weaker flux is produced with 1 MeV protons whose the stopping range is 10 μm for a 8000 J/g dose
