Numerical pulses processing in high resolution and high counting rates gamma spectrometry

  • 1. Forschungszentrum Juelich GmbH (Germany). Inst. fuer Kernphysik

Description

A new method for processing signal produced by large volume and high resolution semiconductor detectors is described. These detectors, to be used in the next generation of spectrometers arrays for nuclear research (i.e. EUROBALL, etc...), present a set of problems like resolution degradation due to the charge trapping and the ballistic deficit, poor resolution at high counting rates, long term instability and temperature effect, etc... To solve these problems, a new approach, based on digital Moving Window Deconvolution (MWD) has been developed. (authors). 5 figs., 3 refs
