Ortho--para composition dependence of the conversion rate in liquid hydrogen

  • 1. Physicotechnical Institute, Academy of Sciences, Ukrainian SSR, Khar'kov

Description

The intrinsic rate of ortho--para conversion in liquid hydrogen has been studied experimentally as a function of the o--p composition over a wide range of ortho concentrations (8--75%), at a temperature of T = 20.34 K. We find a deviation from the relation dc/dt = -kc2. When the results obtained are described in terms of this equation, the value of k is reduced by some 25% on going from ortho to para hydrogen
