Computed tomography in malignant primary bone tumours
Description
The importance of computed tomography is examined in malignant primary bone tumours using a strongly defined examination group of 13 Patients (six Ewing's-sarcomas, five osteosarcomas, one chondrosarcoma and one spindle-shaped cell sarcoma). Computed tomography is judged superior compared to plain radiographs in recognition of bone marrow infiltration and presentation of parosteal tumour parts as well as in analysis of tissue components of tumours, CT is especially suitable for therapy planning and evaluating response to therapy. CT does not provide sufficient diagnostic information to determine dignity and exact diagnosis of bone tumours. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Die Wertigkeit der Computertomographie bei malignen primaeren Knochentumoren wird anhand eines streng definierten Untersuchungskollektivs von 13 Patienten (sechs Ewing-Sarkome, fuenf Osteosarkome, ein Chondrosarkom und ein polymorphes spindelzelliges Sarkom) untersucht. Die Computertomographie ist in der Erfassung der Markrauminfiltration, der Darstellung paraossaler Geschwulstanteile und in der Analyse der Gewebezusammensetzung von Geschwulstprozessen der konventionellen Roentgenuntersuchung ueberlegen. Die CT eignet sich besonders zur Therapieplanung und zur Verlaufskontrolle unter Therapie. Ausreichende artdiagnostische und Dignitaetsaussagen ueber Knochentumoren liefert die CT dagegen nicht.
