Electron properties of amorphous and crystalline ytterbium films

Description
The electron properties (electric conductivity, magnetoresistance and the Hall effect) of amorphous and crystalline ytterbium films are investigated at low temperatures. Some peculiarities are observed and, in particular, a reduction of the specific electric resistance of amorphous Yb films with decrease of their thickness. Information is obtained regarding the amount of carriers, their mobility and mean free path in the films. The differences in the properties of amorphous and crystalline Yb are ascribed to a shift of the conduction band relative to the valence band
