Description
Coulomb scattering of particles in an accelerated bunch, due to the longitudinal momentum distribution, leads to the creation of a contribution to the transverse emittance which adds to the natural emittance. This process has been calculated for high energy linacs used in high energy e+e- linear colliders. At beam energies of 500 GeV to 1 TeV, it has been found that the effect is weak. (orig.)
