Effect of deformation and annealing on structure and properties of amorphous alloys

Aimed to study fine structure variations and thermal stability of strength and magnetic properties of amorphous alloys subjected to various heat and thermomechanical treatments an investigation was carried out into metallic glasses on iron and cobalt bases before and after annealing within the 573-723 K temperature range as well as after rolling and uniaxial tension. Low temperature annealing was shown not to change amorphous state of alloys but to promote precipitation of fine quasi-crystalline phases. Temperature increase resulted in formation of fine-grained crystalline structure with Fe$-2$/B and Fe$-3$/Si phases. Rolling and tension were accompanied by occurrence of deformation bands with internal stresses, microcracks and crystalline phase nuclea. Coercive force after deformation was two orders of magnitude higher than in initial state and varied with subsequent annealing due to stress relaxation and crystallization
