Multiple Δ(1236) - rescattering in nuclear pion absorption

Description
In this note the authors propose as a mechanism a natural extension of the conventional two-nucleon absorption, invoking π and rho induced Δ-isobar rescattering. A four-nucleon interaction is constructed in the framework of effective Lagrangians, with the parameters restricted from the pp → dπ+ reaction; Δ propagation is treated in closure. 3 references
