Description
Thermal-hydraulic post-test analysis of the MEGAPIE-experiment is carried out with the main purposes (a) to assess the existing models and computer codes, and (b) to provide better understanding of the thermal-hydraulic behavior at various conditions. Numerical analysis using the HETRAF code is carried out and compared with the test data of both steady state and transient test conditions. The results achieved so far show clearly the feasibility of the HETRAF code application to multi fluid systems. However, an under-prediction of heat transfer between LBE and the guide tube is observed, if conventional heat transfer correlations are used which are recommended in the open literature for liquid metal flows.
