Tissue reactions deterministic effects in diagnostic and interventional radiology: an integrative review of recent literature

Description

The benefits of medical use of ionizing radiation are well known. However, exposure to this agent can cause harmful effects on the health of exposed individuals. Radiation applications for diagnostic purposes are generally associated with low doses, but interventional procedures may involve much higher doses. In fact, the occurrence of tissue reactions (deterministic effects) in both patients and occupationally exposed individuals has been described by several publications, mainly in the 2000s and 2010s. This work aimed to carry out an integrative review of the literature on the most recent studies (last decade) on the occurrence of tissue reactions associated with diagnostic or interventional radiology procedures.
