Gas-chromatographic analysis of unstable inorganic and hetero-organic compounds
Creators
Description
A review is given of a present-day state in gas chromatographic analysis of unstable and reactive compounds. The review is systematized according to the reactions typical for the compounds: hydrolysis, oxidation, thermal and catalytic destruction, isomerization. For direct gas chromatographic analysis of easily hydrolyzed compounds (chlorides of metals, boron hydrides, chlorosilanes, etc). a careful drying of carrier-gas is necessary. Analysis of easily oxidized compounds (hydrides, alkylderivatives) requires special measures to prevent the oxidation reaction. Analysis of thermally unstable compounds (chloroboranes, BCl3, Mo(CO)6, W(CO)6) is possible only when their decomposition is prevented. The requirements are discussed placed upon a carrier-gas, solid support, and stationary phase during the analysis. The specific features of the devices being used are considered. The review contains 218 references to the papers published in the period 1957-1975
