Treatment of phosphorus-uraniferous solution
Description
A solvent extraction process for the recovery of uranium from Itataia wet process phosphoric acid was studied. The proposed process consists of two extraction cycles. Uranium, reduced to its tetravalent state, is extracted in the first cycle using octylpyrosphoric acid (OPPA) in a kerosene type diluent. Stripping is accomplished with concentrated raffinate phosphoric acid and an oxidizing agent, in order to convert U (IV) to its hexavalent state. The strip solution from the first cycle is processed in the second cycle with the synergistic combination of di-( 2- ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid and tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (D2EHPA-TOPO). The extract is scrubbed and uranium is stripped with ammonium carbonate solution and recovered as a commercial concentrate. The results obtained from batch tests were used to set up a bench scale array of mixer settlers so as to demonstrate the process. (Author)

Foi desenvolvido um processo de extracao por solvente para recuperar o uranio contido no acido fosforico obtido a partir da acidulacao do minerio fosforo-uranifero da jazida da Itataia, Ceara. O processo proposto consiste de dois ciclos de extracao. No primeiro, o uranio e reduzido ao estado tetravalente para, em seguida, ser extraido pelo solvente OPPA, acido dioctil pirofosforico, diluido em querosene. A re-extracao e feita com acido fosforico concentrado contendo um oxidante cuja funcao e converter o uranio ao estado hexavalente. O re-extrato obtido do primeiro ciclo e submetido ao segundo ciclo, onde uranio e extraido com D2EHPA-TOPO, acido di (2-etilhexil) fosforico - oxido de tr-n-octil fosfina, em querosene. O extrato e lavado, e o uranio e re-extraido e precipitado em forma de concentrado comercial. O organico esgotado e, entao, regenerado e reciclado. Realizou-se um teste continuo em escala micro-piloto, com base nos resultados dos testes descontinuos, objetivando visualizar o comportamento do sistema. O OPPA mostrou-se bastante satisfatorio para a extracao de uranio, porem obteve-se baixo rendimento nas condicoes de re-extracao estudadas no primeiro ciclo. (Autor)Files
