Possible explanation for the anomalous slip of bcc metals from in situ experiments
Description
Distinctive features of the unexpected slip plane (0anti11) in the V group bcc metals (Nb, V, Ta) are listed. In-situ experiments in an electron microscope were used to observe dislocation motion in Nb single crystals under stress. A phenomenological two-dislocation model is proposed. (DLC)
