A dimensionless frequency-domain analysis of two-phase flow stability in natural circulation loops

  • 1. Shanghai Jiaotong Univ. (China). Power Mechinery Engineering Department

Description

The analysis is based on an one-dimensional homogeneous equilibrium model of two-phase flow. The dimensionless governing equations of natural circulation system are established in general form. Then, the frequency-domain method and D-partition procedure are used to investigate the stability of the system. A computer code NASTAN-NF written in FORTRAN is developed with high adaptability for natural circulation stability analysis. The dimensionless stability boundary predicted by the code is compared with the result of experiment conducted on the loop built in the laboratory. Some instability mechanisms and influences of some parameters are also investigated
