Purification of uranium product using aceto hydroxamic acid based process

  • 1. Reprocessing Group, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)

Description

A method for the purification of uranium product obtained in Fast Reactor fuel reprocessing at CORAL (Compact Reprocessing facility for Advanced fuels in Lead shielded cells) is developed. In this method two options namely (i) extraction followed by scrubbing with AHA (ii) extraction after complexation with AHA followed by scrubbing with AHA were studied. Extraction followed by scrubbing with AHA option is found to be suitable for the purification of uranium and recovery of plutonium. (author)
