Compton scattering of photons by quarks: NA14 results
Description
This article surveys the results of experiment NA14 on the point-like scattering of photons by quarks. Both QED Compton scattering, (leading to a prompt γ and QCD Compton scattering γq → gq (seen as π0 and π± production), are consistent with QCD calculations. This is a quantitative test of perturbative QCD up to order α αS2. It is also shown here that QED Compton scattering events can be topologically isolated and measured. 4 figs.; 7 refs
