Results regarding the concentration of sludge resulting from discharge of pretreatment settling tanks

Description
As a result of the pretreatment of raw water piped out the Arges River with lime and ferrous sulfate, an iron hydroxide sludge is formed which incorporate slurries, calcium and magnesium carbonates, organic substances and silicon. Sludge treatment and disposal are analyzed from the point of view of the pollutant produced and of the waste disposal technologies of optimal pollution abatement. The paper presents the works performed at the combined heat and power plant Bucharest-West aiming at concentrating the sludge on two pilot filters a centrifugal separator and a pressure filter with belt band.
