Investigations on uranium chalcogenides (US, USe, and UTe)
Description
The homopolar gap, ionic gap, average gap and hence ionicity (fractional ionic character) of US, USe, and UTe have been investigated by the aid of the modified theory of Phillips and Van Vechten. It is observed that the ionicity increases with decreasing value of the d electron contribution in bond formation. Higher values of ionicity reflect their ionic character
