Description

La isotopes are located at so-called transitional region where the shape of nucleus rapidly changes from spherical to deformed with the number of neutrons, providing a good opportunity to test various nuclear models. In order to obtain nuclear electromagnetic moments and changing of nuclear charge radii of these isotopes, we have started the measurements of hyperfine structures and isotope shifts of La ions with collinear laser spectroscopy. So far the spectra of stable 139La and radioactive 138La (T1/2=1x1011 y) and 137La (6x104 y) have been obtained. The sample of about 2 ng of 137La was produced by (p,n) or (p,2n) reactions. From the analysis of the spectra preliminary values of isotope shifts have been obtained. (author)
