An experimental study for heat/mass transfer from wavy corrugated plate

  • 1. Chungnam National Univ., Taejon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

Wavy corrugated plate is so interesting for enhancement of heat transfer that many researchers have devoted to revealing the characteristics of heat transfer. In the present study, local mass transfer coefficients on the sinusoidally wavy corrugated plate are obtained by using naphthalene sublimation technique. In order to find out the characteristics of mass transfer, the effect of flow boundary condition as well as Reynolds number is considered. The mass transfer data from wavy corrugated plate are compared with those of flat plate coming from the same experimental condition. Local Sherwood number along the distance from the leading edge rises up rapidly at the front of peaks and goes down steeply at the rear of peaks. Such a distribution trend of Sh appears periodically. Wavy corrugated plate has much higher values than flat plate does, except the case of low Reynolds number
