Forward-peaked angular distributions observed in (π,π') on light nuclei

Description
Pion inelastic scattering on 12C and 28Si at extreme forward angles has revealed a set of states not previously observed. Their characteristics suggest they may be the spin-flip E1 giant resonance. (orig.)
