StatiStic modelling of Ybsup(3+) optical centers in glass

Description
Properties of model ensembles of non-uniform Yb3+ optical centers are analyzed. The calculated absorption and luminescence spectra are compared to experimental results for nonselective, as well as monochromatic excitations. It is shown that the most characteristic feature of stark spectrum structure, consisting in phenomenal narrowness of resonance band, is insensitive to the geometry of the nearest Yb3+ ion surrounding
