Boron effect on the structure and properties of low alloy copper-containing steel

Description

Structure and properties of the 10KhSND hot-rolled steel containing copper are studied in its microalloying with boron. Steel was subjected to heat treatment and to corrosion and mechanical tests. It is shown that microalloying with boron prevents precipitation of a boron-cementite phase mainly on austenite grain boundaries in hot-rolled steel. In a hardened and annealed state the 10KhSND steel with boron possesses the increased strength at high ductility and cold brittleness. The 10KhSND hardened steel with boron is not second to the 10KhSND steel without boron in its corrosion resistange in corrosive media
