A high performance polarization independent reflector based on a multilayered configuration grating structure

Description
This paper is devoted to the study of a polarization independent reflector made with a multilayered configuration grating structure with a multi-subpart profile. Rigorous coupled-wave analysis for multilayered grating structures is adopted to investigate the properties of the reflector. It is shown that over a broadband spectrum of 1.57–1.8 µm, the reflector demonstrates high reflectivity (R > 99%) and a wide angular bandwidth (about 21.2°) for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarized waves. Effects of deviation from the design parameters on the performance of the reflector are also presented, and a reasonable tolerance of fabrication error is exhibited in the proposed device
