Level structure of 60Ni from the 58Ni(α,2pγ) reaction

  • 1. Institut des Sciences Nucleaires, 38026 Grenoble Cedex, France

Description

The 60Ni nucleus has been studied via the 58Ni(α,2pγ) reaction at E/sub α/ = 32 MeV using in-beam γ spectroscopy techniques. High-spin states up to 10 MeV excitation have been established. Among the five branches depopulating the yrast J/sup π/ = 7- state has been found an E3 transition down to the 4+ state. Comparison with direct reaction results suggests the very likely [νf/sub 5/2/,νg/sub 9/2/]7- configuration for the J/sup π/ = 7- yrast state at 5349 keV, suggesting then the [ν(p/sub 1/2/,p/sub 3/2/,f/sub 5/2/ )2+2 x (νf/sub 5/2/,νg/sub 9/2/)7- 2]9- configuration for the J/sup π/ = 9- yrast state. Other high-spin states might be accounted for by the breaking of the 56Ni core
