Radiological imaging of MALT-lymphoma. Comparison between X-ray imaging, CT, and MRI

Description

The new classification of primary lymphomas of the stomach according to the MALT concept is very promising in therapy planning and prognostic estimation. This new classification sets strict requirements for imaging diagnostics. Besides endosonography which allows the determination of the infiltration depth in stages E 11 and E 12 in an excellent manner, computed tomography and, possibly, magnetic resonance tomography are indispensible for evaluation of higher stages and of the resectibility of a lymphoma. Further MRI examinations are recommended. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Die Neuorientierung der Klassifikation entsprechend dem MALT-Konzept primaerer Magenlymphome erweist sich in der Therapieplanung und der prognostischen Abschaetzung als hoffnungsvoll. Durch diese Neuklassifikation werden an die bildgebende Diagnostik hohe Ansprueche gestellt. In der Endosonographie, die in einer hervorragenden Weise die Infiltrationstiefe des Prozesses in den Stadien E 11 und E 12 beurteilen kann, sind jedoch fuer die Entdeckung sowie die hoehere Stadieneinteilung und Resektabilitaet des Lymphoms die Schnittbildverfahren Computertomographie und moeglicherweise auch die Kernspintomographie unverzichtbar. Zukuenftig sind weitere kernspintomographische Untersuchungen zu empfehlen. (orig.)
