Ion-molecule reactions of nuclear-chemical generated phenyl cations with halobenzenes
Description
Ion-molecule reactions of phenyl cations generated through β-decay of 3H in multiply tritiated benzene with halobenzenes except fluorobenzene are studied. The results are consistent with competing reactions of phenyl cations with both the unshared electron pair of the halogen as p-centers of the substrate (to form 3H-labelled diphenylhalonium salts and halobenzenes) and the π-system of the benzene ring (to give halobiphenyl isomers). 18 refs., 1 fig., 1 tab
