Hydrogen cracking in ferritic steel weld metals
Description
The influence of Mn on hydrogen cracking in (manual metal arc) welds has been investigated using the GBOP (gapped bead-on plate) test. At weld hydrogen levels of 10ml per 100g weld metal hardness controls the risk of cracking more than microstructure; the reverse was observed at 5mlH2 per 100g
