Diffractive models in nondiffractive regions
Creators
Description
Within the spirit of fragmentation models, various quantities may be calculated only when behaviors in the nondiffractive regions are known. These include the dispersion of multiplicity distributions, the rate of approach to asymptotic limits, etc. A priori, very little can be said about the nondiffractive region in fragmentation models. However, if we demand that the invariant pion spectrum in pp inclusive collisions be flat in the central region, then information about the nondiffractive regions may be obtained. In particular, in the diffractive excitation model, this requires that the n⁻² law be valid almost right up to the kinematical boundary, in a way to be specified in the text.
