Description
JT-60 was completed on April 3, 1985, with the successful achievement of full performances of JT-60. Integrated performance test was conducted during the last ten months before the completion of JT-60. The test is composed of three parts; the first is the test of overall control system, the second is the test of the initial excitation of toroidal and poloidal coils, and the last is the system integrated performance test. The results were fully successful; various types of sequential softwares were all debugged, various types of control signals were all worked in expected manner, toroidal and poloidal coils were able to be excited up to full rate of currents and voltages, Tokamak machine could stand the stress forces with the designed conditions, and the power systems worked with the designed conditions, and the power systems worked with the expected controllability. The first plasma formation was tried on April 8, 1985 after a few days of TDC shots. The first discharge was produced by switching off OH coil current. The plasma current was 150 kA and the loop voltage was 27V. The cord-averaged density measured by a 2mm-interferometer was 1 x /sup 13/ cm/sup -3/
