Fast neutron nuclear reactor with emergency cooling system

Description

The invention applies to pool-type reactors and n-loop reactors. The emergency cooling system allows to release the residual power produced by the core when the primary pumps fail. The present invention proposes simple and compact emergency cooling means; they allow the cooled sodium to flow back directly to the feeding diagrid of the assemblies; they have not any zone contrary to the circulation of the liquid metal in natural convection; they allow to remove easily the auxiliary exchangers for their maintenance. The emergency cooling system, according to the invention, comprises a pipe connecting at least one outlet of the auxiliary exchanger to the feeding diagrid and a valve mounted in the said pipe; this valve is sensitive to the pressure existing in the diagrid and opens automatically when the pump fails, to establish a natural circulation of liquid metal successively in the diagrid, in the core and in the auxiliary exchanger

Abstract (French)

L'invention s'applique aussi bien aux reacteurs integres qu'aux reacteurs a boucle. Les moyens de refroidissement de secours permettent d'evacuer la puissance residuelle degagee par le coeur lorsqu'un incident de fonctionnement provoque l'arret des pompes primaires. La presente invention propose des moyens de refroidissement de secours simples et peu encombrants, permettant le retour direct du sodium froid au sommier d'alimentation des assemblages, ne comportant aucune zone contraire a la circulation du metal liquide en convection naturelle et permettant cependant un demontage des echangeurs auxiliaires necessaire a leur maintenance. Selon l'invention, les moyens de refroidissement de secours comprennent une conduite par laquelle au moins un orifice de sortie de l'echangeur auxiliaire est relie directement au sommier d'alimentation et un clapet normalement ferme monte dans ladite conduite, ce clapet etant sensible a la pression regnant dans le sommier pour s'ouvrir automatiquement lors de l'arret de ladite pompe, de facon a etablir une circulation naturelle de metal liquide successivement dans le sommier, dans le coeur et dans l'echangeur auxiliaire
